HOW-TOs for preventing your children from becoming ill this winter

Hello, guys! I questioned you all a while back regarding how you keep your kids healthy during the winter months. At this time of year, my kids typically get ill one or two times, and I feel like you guys always offer the finest advise! I’ll be sharing a lot of the responses and what we do at home in the section below.

My kids haven’t been ill yet this year, and I genuinely believe that’s because we haven’t been going out nearly as often as we usually do. The kids are no longer in the childcare when we work out at the gym because we stopped going, and I believe that along with us spending more time at home, they haven’t really been exposed to anything. I really like the suggestion to check with friends beforehand to see whether their children have been ill or are feeling under the weather. It is extremely crucial, in my opinion, and I admire anyone who changes plans, even at the last minute, if they are anxious about it.

There is a really cool app that Lysol did, it is called the Germ Cast App – it really helps to limit your germ exposure by tracking covid and flu cases down to a county level. So you can see above how it shows where the cases are currently at and it can also show your location and where the clusters of cases are. It has been really helpful even when deciding which park to go to or which grocery store.

I have really gotten into vitamins lately and have been really diligent about them for myself and the kids. I will get into what I take in another post and want to focus on the kids for this one! So for the kids we do a multi vitamin, iron, and vitamin D. I also have an Elderberry syrup that I will add to a smoothie or even just to water if they are sick and I always feel like that helps.

We also always wash hands and have been better about teaching our kids to do a better job of washing their hands and not just running them under water for 2 seconds, haha. We love to do green juice or fresh OJ in the mornings as well and I think that helps them get a good healthy start to their day.
